David Alden Weim

I remember I was a young boy in love. (I thought I was a man.) The girl I was smitten with was in L. A. She came to San Diego and stayed at Dave' home so we could be together.

I am the Reverend Edgar S. Welty, Jr. Dave's "Brother in Law". My father was also a Reverend. Dave, created a unique salutation for my mother, in order to be able to his mother-in-law. Plain "Mother" he reserved for his birth mother. My mom would have been happy to be called, "Betty". But David respected his elders. So he called her, "The Reverend Mother". I last saw Dave at my mother's remembrance service. I am the only son of my parents. But Dave became a true "Brother" to me. I remember...

I am Chaplain (Captian) and Reverend Edgar S. Welty, Jr. of the 31st. Regiment of the United States Volunteers-America and the United Church of Christ. I am interested in including in a mass ceremony of Final Military Honors.

What is my relationship to David? I am the brother of his frist wife. I served as an usher at his and my sister's (Birdie) wedding. I was active in international folk dancing as was David. David as...

I grew up with Dave and his brother Don at College Lutheran Church, and shared Dave's pride in our Norwegian ancestry. After losing track of him, it was strange to hear that Dave and I both are SDSU Accounting grads and we both prepared tax returns for decades. My condolences to his family.

I remember David and the rest of his family from College Lutheran Church. His father was Cubmaster of the Cub Scout Pack, and held regular meetings at their home in the Rolando area.

A few years ago Dave drove from his home in San Diego to Escondido to be an "angel" for me when I was learning to square dance. He was such a quiet, gentle man. My deepest condolences.
