I had the joy of serving with Bishop D. Frederick Wertz when I received my first appointment, as Associate Pastor at Allison United Methodist Church from 1988 to 1993. He placed his hands on me when I was ordained an elder in 1990 and he married Beth and me in 1992 at Allison Church. We still hear his voice singing "Love Divine, All Loves Excelling" during the final hymn of our wedding as we marched down the long, center aisle of that most special house of worship.
