David Alexander Whittet, 84, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2026, in Brick, NJ. Born on February 10, 1942, David lived a full and vibrant life marked by his entrepreneurial spirit and deep love for family and friends.
A proud graduate of Curtis High School, David built a remarkable career as an entrepreneur in both master carpentry and insurance. His passion for craftsmanship was matched only by his joy in teaching others the art of construction, leaving a lasting impact on many young minds.
David was an avid fisherman who found solace on the water. He also delighted in collecting movies, music, books, and antiques-a testament to his appreciation for history and culture. Above all else, he cherished his family and was known for his loyalty as a friend. His quick wit brought laughter to those around him, and his generous heart touched countless lives.
David is survived by Rosebud, the love of his life; his stepson Frank; granddaughter Kacielee; nieces Melinda and AD; nephew Jimmy Barbes; cousin Linda Stein; and many other beloved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by Grandma "Atta" Eva Gabree; "Mom" Carolyn Barbes; "Bop" John Barbes; Bunny and Lila Barbes; and cousin Al Barbes.
In honor of David's memory, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, reflecting his compassionate nature and commitment to helping others.
