Chicopee – David E. Wilson (69), passed away Sunday night, July 21, 2024, surrounded by his loving family after a long brave battle with cancer. David was born in Fulton, NY, son of the late Barbara (Sheeley) and William Wilson. He grew up in Pittsfield and was a 1973 graduate from Pittsfield High School. David later moved to Chicopee and worked professionally as an IT manager for Northeast Utilities for 35 years. He loved the Patriots, golfing, a good game of pitch, and anything that involved his family. David was a beloved husband and father to his children and anyone else that needed a dad.  He was truly an amazing man.  He leaves behind his wife of 46 years, Cathleen Wilson of Chicopee, a devoted son, Michael Wilson and wife Allyson of Springfield, a loving daughter, Jennifer Barbieri and husband Nathan of Springfield, an estranged son, William Wilson of Springfield, a dear mother-in-law Beatrice Burke of Pittsfield, a brother Patrick Wilson and wife Carol of Pittsfield, a sister Kathleen Horth  and husband James of Lacona, NY, and 5 grandchildren,  Piper, Mason, Harper, William and Brady and many nieces and nephews.  Calling hours will be held for David on Sunday July 28th from 2-5 pm at The O’Brien Family Funeral Home, 33 Lamb St. South Hadley, MA 01075. In lieu of flowers please donate to the American Cancer Society’s AstraZeneca Hope Lodge in Boston MA where David stayed during his treatments.

Very fond memories of Dave at WMECO in West Springfield and later at NU. We had a lot of laughs together- particularly in the Summer of 1979 - during our time at Brush Hill. A wonderful guy - may he rest in peace and condolences to his loved ones.

My deepest condolences to the Wilson family. Dave was a fine man, and the best boss I ever had. He will be sorely missed.
