David Lawrence Wood

David Lawrence Wood, age 65, of Birmingham, AL passed away on Sunday, October 14, 2018. He was born in Vero Beach, FL on August 1, 1953, to Richard G. and Irene Wood. David is survived by his wife, Susan Freeman Wood; daughters, Carrie Wood Sayers and Amy Wood Jager (Rylan); granddaughters, Sadie Sayers and Zoe Jager; father, Richard G. Wood (Kay); and his brothers, Melvin, Ted, Donald and Randy Wood. He was preceded in death by his mother, Irene Wood. David loved being in the Boy Scouts and earned the highest achievement of Eagle Scout. He graduated from Auburn University in 1975 and earned his Masters Degree from the University of Arkansas. David was in the ROTC program at Auburn and served in the Air Force from 1976 until 1981 as a C-130 navigator. He was devoted to his family, loved his girls and all Auburn sports. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 17, 2018, from 1-2 PM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home in Hoover. A memorial service will follow in the chapel at 2 PM.
