David R. Wright

David R. Wright, 66, of Rocky Mount, Virginia, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday, March 16, 2025, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, Virginia. He was born on February 9, 1959, in Chillicothe, Ohio, to the late William “Bill” Wright and Velvia Caudill Nester. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Jane Hylton.

David was of the Baptist faith. He cherished spending time with his family, especially spoiling his grandchildren. He also enjoyed tinkering with cars and working on home projects.

David is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Georgia Wright; his daughter, Tonya Bryant (Tim); his son, David Wright (Amanda); five grandchildren—Haylie, Hayden, Abbigale, Levi, and Hudson—who adored him; his brother, Timothy Wright (Darlene); and many friends and extended family members who will deeply miss him.

The family will receive friends on Friday, March 21, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Bassett Funeral Service Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Bassett Funeral Service Chapel, with Pastor Jason Alverson and Payton Gilbert officiating. Interment will follow at Frazier Family Cemetery.
