Not sure what to say?

I just learned of the sad and unexpected passing of my lifelong friend Dean Ayres. Dean and I had been friends since the first grade at Carroll Manor School, at a time when each day began with the Lord’s Prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. As a matter of fact, my entire family were all very fond of Dean and his genuine good-natured spirit. As young boys while walking up to the old Sunnybrook General Store, Dean and his brother Larry would often stop...

Dear Kathy, Kevin, Beth and family, I was so sorry to learn of Dean's passing. The last time I saw him was last year at Donna Ward's funeral and we had a chance to share a nice chat. He was always so genuine, warm, friendly, kind and giving. He was one of a kind and he will be missed greatly by everyone who knew and loved him. Please accept our sincere condolences and know our thoughts and prayers are with you. God bless you all and give you peace - Joyce Ransone and family

Dean and I served in Vietnam the same year but we were in different units. Dean was a great guy and I loved being with him and my Vietnam buddies at his wonderful party in the summers. Denny Jones

Dear Kathy and family, we just learned of Dean’s passing tonight from a friend. He certainly enjoyed life. One of our favorite memories Is when we try to fondue at your house on the White farm. We recently ran into Dean at the Manor Tavern and had a good laugh about that meal many many years ago. Our sympathies and prayers are with you during this tough time. Nancy and Charlie Miller

Very fond memories of one hell of a brother in law!!

It is difficult to say goodbye to Dean Ayres because he has always been a force in my life - whether as close through his mom and brothers in our church or the fire department - or distant because of divorce that always takes its price.

Dean has always been a positive person in my life with that 10 second response time when difficult questions were asked. I recall his magnanimous personality when selling Christmas trees or playing pool at the firehouse and will treasure those...

I never had the pleasure of meeting Dean but, I did, for many years, work with Kathy. That alone lets me know he was good people! My deepest Condolences.

So many things to say! His catering, his service to his fellow veterans, his civic mindedness, his generosity! Rest in peace, Dean. You've done well.

Condolences to the family. Dean always had a smile on his face. We will forever remember the "Mayor of Jacksonville".
Sincere blessings,
