Not sure what to say?

It was always fun to banter with the Colonel. We, Betty Jo and me, would end up laughing with him. Rest in peace, my friend.

I am a graduate of Johnson High School, 1978 and your dad was always one of my favorites. I happen to have the luck of running in to him at a local (now closed) restaurant called Victoria's a few years back. He was feared, but loved by all his students. I know you will miss him but rejoice in his presence with the Savior. Jimmy Lehman

Andrew: I know how close you and your Dad were. You are in my family's prayers. TEE

My condolences to the family (especially my friends Dean Jr. and Anne), with fond memories of this excellent high school teacher. It is a joy to know I will see him again in glory!

Mr. Bekken was an inspirational teacher. I still remember the lessons he taught us. May God bless his family and friends during this time of loss.

Until that day, I wasn't sure if he thought I did a good job. It's one of my all time...

"Tomorrow" was always the day he would begin his diet. Dean was serious and funny. I taught with him until his retirement. He cared for his students at Johnson High school and the students respected him. As far as I know, this was his first teaching job and he relished it. I tried to keep up with him after I moved to Texas, but we lost touch. I know where you are now.

Dean, forget the diet and enjoy being with Carolyn.
