Dear Susan, Kristin, Mark, and grandson Jaxon,
Dean was my boss during time he was
interim chair of Genetics. I will always remember him as the man we affectionly named "The Bear" fearful at first glance but really was a first class "Teddy Bear" From my family to yours may you find solace in the knowledge that we who knew him will always remember him with affection. He will be missed. Our prayers are with you.

Our thoughts are with Susan, Mark and Kirstin at this difficult time. Two words remind me of Dean: chili and soccer. His chili dish was famous and delicious and I'll always remember the soccer games which I attended years ago when our sons were in elementary school. He was an unique person in so many ways.
