Read MoreDr. Goplerud was our mother´s doctor many years ago at MCV. We will always be grateful for his care. She had a very aggressive uterine cancer and managed to live another twenty years partly because of his skill.

May I join the chorus singing this man´s praises? He too saved my life. Absolutely confident in what needed to be done- skilled surgeon, kind, compassionate, with some bedside humor thrown in when needed. His residents and interns hung on his every word and no doubt learned much from him. I am so grateful to him. My sympathies go out to his family-a great man!

August 7, 1990, Dr. Goplerud performed surgery on me, which turned out to be Stage IVb cervical cancer. I will never forget eight days later when he came into my room at MCV, touched my foot, and said "well it's not as good as I thought it was". Such compassion and wisdom, Dr. Goplurud saved my life with his knowledge and surgical skills. And, in 2008 when my Mom was diagnosed with uterine cancer, he met me at the MCV library and talked me through it with such grace. What a wonderful soul...
