Hawthorne Funeral Home - Mount Vernon Obituary

Dean Joseph Hamilton, 72, of Burlington, WA, passed away on October 30, 2021. Dean was born on April 11, 1949, at Fairhaven Hospital in Burlington to Warren and Mildred Hamilton. He spent his childhood in Sedro Woolley and graduated from Burlington-Edison High School in 1967. In 1967 he married Darcy Mast and together they raised two children, Lisa and Kirk. He worked for the City of Burlington for 39 years in various departments. Additionally, Dean was a member of the Burlington Volunteer Fire Department for 19 years.

Dean loved to spend his time supporting his children and grandchildren in every single sport and activity. He enjoyed traveling to the Leavenworth/Wenatchee area for camping and pool time with his family every sunny weekend and any other chance he could. Dean was an avid fisherman, hunter, and enjoyed spending time outdoors including golfing with friends and family. He absolutely loved to play cribbage with his family and his coworkers. His grandchildren have fond memories of cribbage with Papa. Dean had a fondness for all things sweet from M&M’s in his ice cream to Oreos for breakfast.

He is survived by his children and their spouses; Lisa Drye(Jay) and Kirk Hamilton(Leslie); sister Rochelle Greathouse; grandchildren BJ, Makenna, and Cael; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ron Hamilton, and sister Dolores Morrissey.

On behalf of Dean’s family, we would like to thank Hospice of the Northwest for their incredible support during his last days. We would also like to thank all of the Creekside staff for their love and support for Dean. You made Creekside his home.

Not sure what to say?

So sorry to hear of your Husband's passing. Sending prayers for you and your family. God bless, Kelli

Dean was a good friend while all our kids were growing up. He will be missed and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family. Enjoy the happy memories . This family has many happy memories from all the wrestling tournaments we all attended. He will be missed. Sincerely the Myers family.

From the time I was a small girl you and I had a special bond. I love you so very much and will miss our banter back and fourth. May you now be at peace. I will miss you so very much Uncle Dean. Love Karen It saddens me so much to have to say goodbye to you...I will cherish all the memories.

Dean was a friend, buddy, tease, supportive great man and a continuous source of amusement for the Reception desk at Creekside. We all enjoyed teasing him right back and he almost always left us with a smile. I will miss that guy, he seemed to pick up on how your day was going and would tease until he got a smile or wait until you were free just to say, “see ya in a bit!” He has left a hole in Creekside and he will be missed.
I thank you, his family, for sharing him with us! May God...
