Dean's dedication and contributions to our troop over the last four decades impacted the journeys of hundreds of scouts, many of them earning their Eagle Scout. His steadfast years of service as our troop's Eagle advisor and mentor, along with all of his tireless efforts at the St. Helena Lighthouse, earned him his place amongst the pantheon of our best scout leaders. It was a pleasure and an honor to have known you, worked with you, and camped with you. May the Great Master of all Scouts...

Dean was not just an ordinary scouter; he was a beacon of inspiration, instilling values of leadership, resilience, and camaraderie in generations of young scouts. For decades, he selflessly devoted his time and energy to nurturing the minds and spirits of countless youths, guiding them on their path to becoming responsible and compassionate individuals. For the past 30 years he lead the troop's service project at St Helena Island. My whole family enjoyed the unique nature hike Dean took us...

Dean was generous, knowledgeable, focused Boy Scout Leader and a great guy. He coordinated the annual Troop 4, Ann Arbor, service trip to Saint Helena Island Light House Station for the scouts and their families. We will always remember him in his muddy rain boots and sun hat, hiking calf-deep in a swampy thicket... just to show us (my son who was a brand new boy scout) and I a delicate wild flower that was found only in the vicinity of the islands near the Straights of Mackinaw. As we...

How blessed we have been to know Dean and work with him in Troop 4 Scouting activities! His passion for helping Scouts learn and grow was so clearly lived out in his leadership with the St. Helena lighthouse restoration, and the countless number of boys he mentored on their Eagle Scout projects, including our son. While we will miss him greatly, we are thankful for so many wonderful memories we have of knowing and working with Dean. Our thoughts and prayers are with all the family.

Dean was involved as an adult leader at Boy Scout Troop 4 in Ann Arbor for about 40 years mentoring dozens of boys through the requirements to obtain the rank of Eagle Scout. For 30 years he lead the Troop's annual trip to work on restoring St. Helena Light Station in the Straits of Mackinac (www.gllka.org/st-helena-island-light-station). The last time we spoke we were planning this year's trip. Thanks for everything, friend, -Diane & David Ferguson
