Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory - Crystal Lake Obituary

Debbie Henry, 52, of Crystal Lake, passed away Friday, April 10, 2015, at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood.

She was born September 15, 1962, in Elgin, to Darlene (nee Fischer) Petersen and Thomas Szilasi.

Debbie was a 1980 graduate of McHenry High School (West Campus) and earned her associate?s degree in fine arts from McHenry County College.

She was a former office manager and customer service representative for 25 years prior to becoming a stay-at-home mom in 2005.

A devout Catholic who strongly believed in the power of prayer, Debbie enjoyed cooking home-style meals for her family and friends and trying new recipes. She loved playing and cuddling with her two kitties, Snuggles and Sammy. Most of all, Debbie enjoyed spending time with and was very proud of her daughter.

Survivors include her daughter, Melissa Henry of Crystal Lake; mother, Darlene Petersen of Crystal Lake; step father, Vernon Petersen of Crystal Lake; former husband, Chuck Henry of Huntley; special sister, Rita Petersen of Palatine, father, Tom Szilasi of St. Louis, MO. and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

A memorial visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m., Wednesday, April 15, at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave. (Route 176), Crystal Lake. The memorial service and inurnment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
