Honaker Funeral Home, Inc. - Slidell Obituary

Deborah Ann Haas, lovingly known as Debbie, was born on October 27, 1958, in Providence, Rhode Island, and was called to her eternal home on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, in Slidell, Louisiana, after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was the devoted wife of nearly 50 years to her beloved husband, Peter, a cherished mother to daughters Jennifer and Krystal, and a proud and loving grandmother to Jacob, Maximus, and Aryana.

Debbie was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her life was marked by love, compassion, and an unwavering dedication to her family. She had an infectious smile, a joyful spirit, and a heart full of kindness. Her presence brought warmth and comfort, and her memory will continue to do the same.

After graduating from high school, Debbie began a new chapter of her life by enlisting in the United States Navy, where she would meet the love of her life, Peter. She later left the service to focus on raising her family—an endeavor she embraced with unmatched devotion and grace.

Those who knew Debbie will remember her not only for her laughter and light, but for the genuine care she offered to everyone around her. Her legacy is one of love freely given, smiles generously shared, and a life lived with deep purpose and compassion.

A Celebration of Life service to honor Debbie will be held at a later date at the Veterans Cemetery in Slidell, Louisiana. Details will be announced by the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Though Debbie’s physical presence is no longer with us, her spirit lives on in the hearts of those she loved. May her memory be a blessing, and may we all strive to carry forward her legacy of love, strength, and kindness.
