Deborah J. Morris

Debbie J. Morris, 48, of Stanardsville, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, January 4, 2010 after a long and courageous battle with ovarian cancer.

Debbie was born on August 25, 1961, in Nortonsville, Virginia, to the late Earl and Charlotte Morris.

Debbie leaves to cherish her memory a son, James Wesley "Wes" Morris and his wife, Danielle Roberts, of Stanardsville; a daughter, Jamie Lynn Morris and her partner, Marcus Early, of Ruckersville; three sisters, Rose Morris, Della Morris and Denise Burgess, all of Stanardsville; two brothers, Roger Morris and his wife, Linda, of Waynesboro and Michael Morris of San Diego, California; six grandchildren, Austin, Tyler, Josiah, Keauna (whom Debbie helped raise), Brandon and Jashaun; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces.

Debbie was employed at Skyline Restaurant of Ruckersville for many years where she had many co-workers and customers that she considered a second family. A special thank you to Perry, Nina, George and Effie Geros for their support during Debbie's illness. To Debbie's co-workers Christy, Shannon, Cheri, Alfredo, Rafael, Marilu and Cindy. thank you for all your support and laughter during her trying times. Debbie truly loved her job and her customers.

Debbie cherished her closet friends (although not limited to the following) Tina McCann, Sherri Eubanks, Mary Potter, Billie Moon, Lupe Mosqueda ("Good morning Lupe"), Joyce Shoopman, Joyce Burgess, Russell Dinkle and Barbara Herndon.

Debbie should be remembered as a very simple woman who loved God, angels, her family, work and travelling. She would always say that God and family came first.

Debbie asked that a very special thank you be extended to Dr. Amir Jazaeri and his staff (especially Paula and Mary) at the Oncology Department of the University of Virginia Medical Center and the Hospice of the Piedmont for the great care she received during her four year battle with cancer.

Thanks to all the friends who came to visit, brought food and gave monetary gifts during Debbie's time of need. You all had a very special place in Debbie's heart.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, January 8, 2010, at the Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail, Ruckersville, Virginia.

A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, January 9, 2010, at the Ryan Funeral Home with Kathy Atkinson of Narrows, Virginia officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Following the interment, friends and family will gather at Shepherd of the Hills Catholic Church on Amicus Road from 5 until 8 p.m. to celebrate Debbie's life.

Pallbearers for the service will be Debbie's brothers, Roger Morris and Michael Morris, Debbie's nephew, T.J. Eubanks, Debbie's boss and friend, George Geros, and friends, Evan Rogers and Vernon Hawkins.

Donations may be made to the Hospice of the Piedmont, 675 Peter Jefferson Parkway, Suite 300, Charlottesville, Virginia 22911 or the charity of one's choice or to Debbie's memorial fund through her sister, Denise Burgess, 44 Holmes Run Place, Stanardsville, Virginia 22973.
