Bill DeBerry Funeral Directors - Denton Obituary

Debra Ann Jenkins Khoury, beloved Wife, Mother, Sister, Aunt, and Friend, was called home to be with the Lord on June 15, 2022 at the age of 66. She was born in Mart, Texas to Jack and Catherine (Blanton) Jenkins on October 17, 1955.

She graduated from Denton High School in 1974 where she danced as a Fillie and met the love of her life, Iseed Khoury. Debra and Iseed were wed on November 17, 1979 at First Baptist Church in Denton, TX. The following year, they were blessed with their first child, Camille Kebal Khoury on August 13, 1980. On March 14, 1987 they welcomed their son, Trevor Andrew Khoury.

She attended North Texas State University and studied Accounting, which would later help her in her career at the University of North Texas (UNT). She began working at UNT in 1984 as an Inventory Clerk and retired after 33 years as the Assistant Travel Director. Her hard work and dedication to her career earned her the Steve Miller Outstanding Achievement Award in 2008.

Debra was a dedicated Christian and a member of Grace Temple Baptist Church. She was an avid movie goer and could spend a full day theater hopping with her kids. Her favorite vacations were on a cruise boat with her best friend Charlotte or on a roadtrip with her husband, children, and siblings. She lit up at concerts and could be caught dancing and singing her favorite country songs around the house.

Debra’s friends and family describe her as warm, magnetic, tenacious and unwaveringly kind. She was happiest when she was surrounded by her family and was deemed the “fun aunt” by her nieces and nephews. Her devotion and unconditional love for her husband and children were unparalleled. She could be seen cheering on the sidelines of every single soccer game with a bell and a smile.

Above all other things, beyond her work in the community and her professional accomplishments, Debra will be remembered as a consistent source of love and guidance who inspired her family to lead lives as joy-filled and giving as hers. She was universally loved and will be very missed. She is survived by her husband, Iseed Khoury of Denton, daughter, Camille Khoury of Denton, son, Trevor Khoury and wife Meredith of Dallas, sisters; Janet Seeligson of Dallas, and Linda Page of Denton, brother, Jack Jenkins Jr., of New York.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors.

We have appreciated Debra and your family being such good neighbors over the past 20+ years. Unfortunately, we were not very good neighbors and have remained overly distant, as is our nature. In any case, there are no good words to express our sympathy for your loss. We did not know how serious her condition was until after her passing. If we can help in any way in the future, please let us know. Debra was a delightful person to everyone, I am sure, as she was to us when we passed between our...

Words are not enough.....

Sweet Debra was a Senior Fillie when I was a new junior Fillie. Debra was so sweet to me. So helpful along with my Fillie Big Sister (Jamie Higgs Reiman) I was in good hands. Godly women surrounded me. Then to meet the man who chose her and she him in Iseed , well I got to see LOVE, Magic, and how a relationship was meant to be. Along with Debra and Iseed I was NTSU bound and continued to see them. She will be so missed . She lives in her husband and children here on earth while she is now...

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
