Dede Unthank

The family held a beautiful memorial service for Dede on May 22nd at the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany in Richardson. We were lifted in love by her big family of brothers, cousins, nieces and nephews and friends old and new. Thanks to everyone who attended or sent us flowers, cards, love and prayers.

I’m still trying to find the words to properly share my thoughts. I’m usually not short on words.... until lately. Dede is and always will be the bright light in a room that brings energy instead of taking it. She’s a belly laugh at times when I usually laughed alone. She shared my dry sense of humor, listened to my wild ideas and crabby thoughts- never judging- but her raised eyebrow and spontaneous grin showed her cards . Dede was a dear friend in high school. I have attached a photo from high school days.
One funny memory i must share. Dede had a queen bed and when i spent the night in the same bed, she did this “thing” where she would roll back and forth, back and forth to sooth herself. It was the funniest thing and I remember it fondly.
Dede was perpetually cheerful and a great friend.
My condolences to John, her sons and grandchildren, as well as her brothers and all the family.
