Dee Brannan Obituary

BRANNAN
Dee Arlin Brannan was born on the 14th of February, 1924, to Wilton and Ada Brannan, in Fort Sumner, New Mexico. Dee entered into his heavenly rest July 21, 2013. He lived most of his early life in Melrose, NM, and met his wife, Emma Jeane Simmons, there. They married February 20, 1944 at the Simmons family home. Jeane preceded him in death, on November 9, 2010. Dee was a member of the Navy in World War II, a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, and a member of Texas Baptist Men. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, July 30th, 1:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 733 Cross Street, New Braunfels.

Dee is survived by his 4 children (and spouses): Pamela and John Miller, Geryl and Connie Brannan, Ken and Denise Brannan, and Tricia and Jimmy Cornelius. They had 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Although Dee was an only child, he is survived by his wife's 7 siblings (and spouses), whom he loved as his own.

Dee Arlin Brannan was a true servant of the Lord, serving as a Sunday School teacher and deacon in multiple churches. To the best of our knowledge, he built, renovated, or rebuilt something at 49 different churches. He took seriously the admonition from Scripture to "take care of the widows and orphans." Anyone who needed practical help knew they could turn to him in time of need. He enjoyed working in his shop.

In lieu of flowers, may we suggest a donation to one of his favored charities: The Gideons, Hope Hospice in New Braunfels, the building fund of First Baptist Church, or any charity of your choice.

Our family believes he deserves the epitaph, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant." We miss you, Daddy, but we know you are with your beloved Jeanie and the Lord.

Senator Leticia Van de Putte

July 30, 2013

Dear Brannan Family:

Please accept my deepest sympathies on the loss of your beloved. There are never any right words to express how deeply sad I am for the pain your family is enduring at this difficult time.

Although I did not have the honor and pleasure of knowing him, as Chair of the Senate Committee on Veteran Affairs and Military Installations, I am sincerely thankful for his valiant service in defense of our rights and freedom.

His commitment to family, friends, our community, and to serving our great nation leaves a wonderful legacy. May the love and the wonderful memories you shared with him help you when you need it most. He will never be forgotten, and your family will be remembered in my prayers.
