Pat and Family
In the few years we knew Del we got to know him as a big hearted happy guy who was always willing to help with whatever goofy thing we were trying to do. We'll miss his stories about his new house, about his daughter's latest adventures, about sailing with friends and his weekends on the race committee boat, about his soccer practices with the local kids, and about lots of other things. But most of all we'll miss Del as a really good friend.

Dear Swanson family,
Some of the best years of our lives were spent with Del and Pat at Tomahawk Scout Reservation. As the Chippewa Beach Director Del was an inspiring mentor, but more than that he was a terrific big brother and a great friend. It was an honor to have Del and Pat in our wedding party. We miss him and have many memories of happy times with him. Our hearts go out to you at this time.

Pat,Lee,and family.
I don't remember a time when Del was not on the list of important people in my life. He has always been such a good friend to my big brother. I always looked up to him as a gentle soul with a good smile and sense of humor. Most recently it meant alot to me that he stayed by Warren and our family after Mom's passing and offered support. I will miss him, but his essence will never leave my memory. My thoughts are with you as you adjust to this loss.

There are so many memories of Del!
High School pranks in 1963...
Taking the limo to the toboggan hill
Canoe Trips, explorer scouts,
Sharing apartments in college,
Parenting our respective families, Sailboat racing on Lake of the Woods,
and then the past 6 months....
Del lived life and felt life throughly at every turn. He always made the effort to keep friendships active and viable. For that I will ever be grateful.

I have such great memories of Del, it's hard to pick out just a couple to share. They range from his obvious love and pride in his girls as he supported them in their high school activities and beyond to seeing him in a canoe to seeing his excitment when he bough his new truck. While Kim was in Iraq, there was no one who was more proud and worried. As Mindy has progressed in her judo competitions, Del was right by her side, even if it was sometimes virtual. And his love for Pat was...
