A.O. Smith Funeral Home - Thomas Street Chapel Obituary

Delaney Scott Koehn was born November 1, 1985, to Scott and Sheila Koehn in Dodge City, Kansas. He was called home unexpectedly on February 15, 2026, at forty years of age. Del left us all with a beautiful assurance of his salvation, telling his wife just days before that he was ready to die with nothing in his way.

Delaney’s childhood was spent on the family farm in western Kansas where he spent many happy hours with his siblings and cousins. He was followed by a sister and three more brothers. His childhood was eventful, getting too close to a PTO at three and nearly dying from a snakebite at five.

As a young boy he felt the call to repentance and answered. He was baptized into the Church of God in Christ Mennonite on March 28, 1999, by Minister Lloyd Nightingale at Plainsview, Kansas. He remained faithful to his vows until the end.

When he was sixteen, his family moved to Bradley, Arkansas, and though it was hard to leave Kansas, he threw himself into this land and community and developed a deep love for this area.

At age eighteen he spent six months in North Carolina, rebuilding after a hurricane. During this time he formed life long friendships and spoke fondly of his time there. He always enjoyed CDR and volunteer projects.

In the fall of 2005, a dark haired Canadian came to teach and it wasn’t long before Delaney was head over heels. He married Elizabeth Toews on July 16, 2006, in Enderby, British Columbia. They shared life and love for nearly twenty years. Del was always a rock, leader, and provider.

Four girls and one boy made their family complete. Delaney had a special relationship with each one of his children and was always “daddy” to them. He took the time to seek them out, and made their interests his own. His no meant no and the children knew that. Two days before his passing he sent flowers to Amber and all of her co teachers. He had a bond with Daniel that was deep and meaningful. He spent his last morning doing what he loved best, working with his family.

One of Del’s passions was fishing, and he loved to share that with his family and friends. He felt a special peace when he was on the water. He loved early mornings and all things outdoors. He also spent many hours on the phone with his dad, siblings, and those he loved.

Delaney was respected in the community and took the time to maintain relationships with many friends. He carried a burden for the youth. His deep convictions came across harsh at times, but they were fueled by a burning love.

Those left to cherish a life well lived are his loving wife, Liz; his children, Amber (17), Rebecca (16), Shanna (12), Daniel (9),and Cheyenne (5), of the home; father and mother, Scott and Sheila Koehn, Bradley, Arkansas; parents-in-law, Robert and Brenda Toews, Enderby, British Columbia; siblings, Sharmin and Trynn Nightingale, Montezuma, Kansas, Lee and Tiawni Koehn, Bradley, Arkansas, Keller and Allison Koehn, Lewisville, Arkansas, Clyde and Angelina Koehn, Lewisville, Arkansas; siblings-in-law, Lavern and Lisa Toews, West Lock, Alberta,  Lori and Donavan Ensz, Othello, Washington, Dallas and Virginia Toews, Enderby, British Columbia, Shelby and Ivan Johnson, Russellville, Arkansas, close friend Derek Dwight, and many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Those gone on before are Grandpa Koehn, Grandpa Vic and Aunt Melody Smith.
