Delbert L. Derr 81, of Fort Madison, IA, passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at 12:45 AM at the West Point Care Center. He was born on August 3, 1930 in Charleston, IA to Maxine Derr. On November 24, 1955 he married Caroline T. Krogmeier at Sacred Heart Church in Ft. Madison; she preceded him in death on December 31, 2008. Delbert was a farmer and also worked at Midwest Waxed Paper and Burrows Paper Corp. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, an honorary member of FFA and enjoyed spending time with his family. Survivors include five sons, Bernard (Brenda) Derr of Ft. Madison, Martin (Linda) Derr of Donnellson, Norman (Carey) Derr of West Point, Richard (Tami) Derr of Ft. Madison, John (Mel) Derr of West Point; four daughters, Marlene (Kevin) Westfall of Ft. Madison, Anita (Phillip) Westfall of Donnellson, Theresa (Jim) Hayes of Ft. Madison, Janet (Rob) Faeth of Ft. Madison; twenty grandchildren, six step grandchildren, one great grandchild and three step great grandchildren; one brother, Jack Kirchner of Donnellson and one sister Lillian Schweer of Donnellson. He was preceded in death by his mom and wife. Friends may call after 3 PM Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory where the family will receive friends from 4:30 until 6:30 PM. A wake service will be held at 6:30 PM at the funeral home. The mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, November 17, 2011 at Sacred Heart Church with Rev. David Wilkening officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
