Groton - Rev. Deleen A. Walton, 63, passed away Saturday, June 29, 2013, at her home on Trent Lane in Groton.

Rev. Walton was born on Oct. 16, 1949, in Quonset, R.I., the daughter of Walter Daniel and Arleen (LaPorte) Nelson. She was married to Donald F. Walton Sr. on Jan. 15, 1968, in Mystic.

Deleen was an ordained minister through the World Ministry Fellowship. Over the years, her Ministries have taken her throughout the world.

Deleen did mission trips to Guatemala and Mexico before getting to Kenya in 1996 for the first time. She ministered in other African countries, but her heart was in Kenya. Due to health reasons she and her husband hadn't been to Kenya since 2009. She kept in contact and still funded certain projects from home. While in the states, she enjoyed going south to minister in places like Greenville, S.C. or Powder Springs, Ga. She will be greatly missed by family and friends as is evident from comments on facebook and other e-mails from all over the world.

Besides her husband, Deleen's survivors include a daughter, Donnelle M. Bowser of Utah; two sons, Donald F. Walton II of Florida, and David J. Walton of Groton; seven grandchildren, Jordan, Micah, Alyssa, Emma, Kaitlyn, Joshua and Trey; as well as one great-grandchild, Brooklynn. She is also survived by her uncle, George L. LaPorte, who had made his home with Deleen and Donald.

A Celebration of her Life will be held at 11 a.m. July 20, at Grace Church, Old Saybrook.

In lieu of flowers, her family requests that donations be directed to Sent to Serve Ministries, 33 Trent Lane, Groton, CT 06340.

Please visit www.byles.com for directions, to sign her guestbook or to share a memory.

Not sure what to say?

Deleen was the most loving and giving person my family has ever known. She was my sister Jane's rock at all times. If ever she was needed, she was there no matter what the problem. She was always so busy that my mother nicknamed her "The Little Ant". I will always carry a little of Deleen in my heart.

There was "something about" this cute little spit fire that sat on the cold metal bleachers cheering her son on during all those baseball games. It was contagious... Thank you Deleen for sharing with me and leading me to salvation through our loving Lord Jesus. I will always remember her with such love in my heart and can't wait to dance with her in Heaven at the feet of our Lord. She will be missed deeply by many, but the Heavens rejoice. My love and prayers are with you all Don and...

DEAR Don & Family,
My family and I are truly sorry for your loss. I know you will all miss her, but God has gained a wonderful new angel.Deleen was at time my sister Jane's rock. She always knew that if she ever needed Deleen she would be there. My Mom use to call Deleen the "Little Ant", because she always had forty thousand things she was doing at once, but she steadfastly stayed her course and never lost her faith in God. She will be extremely missed by all who loved her.

God Blessed us with your presence and we are forever grateful for the love, kindness and ministry of Sent To Serve! Don we pray God encamp his Angels around you and your family during this time of sorrow. Reverend Deleen married my husband and I in 2010 and made the ceremony a prophetic and glorious occasion for which our blessings overflow daily. Thank you always! Warm regards, Patricio & Grace Cirino
