Not sure what to say?

This quick sketch by Dell´s son in law Rodrigo about a year ago. He has the artistic gift of being able to draw the thoughts of his subject - at least i think he caught my father in thought. Its been very painful to loose my father. Here I see him thinking about that, its a familiar look and I recognize it from times I had bad news in my life. He had no words, no platitudes or judgements...he could listen well and I always felt lighter after talking to him. Maybe this I still have, maybe he...

My Uncle Dell was such a gentle, sweet man. He would always take the time to look me in the eye, smile so big his eyes would close and say "Hi Carm, it's good to see you"! I will always remember his goodness, and am so much better a person to have known a kindness like his! He made an impact on myself and my family...I am so grateful for my Uncle Dell, the way he showed up for us and made us feel cared for was so very special!

Del was the founding pillar of Oregon's workforce development system. He deeply influenced all of us who worked with him and shaped the work we do today and into the future more than any other individual. He had very, very strong opinions which he shared using intellect and passion with everyone from our job seeker customers to Governors and legislators. He seemed immortal and hearing of his passing was a shock.

Dell was the best a man could be. He was an amazing man to his friends, staff, and family. Dell's belief in the value of every single person was paramount, and he touched the lives of many. He was my hero.

Single Memorial Tree

I was stunned and VERY sad to hear about Dell from one of the former West Linn Community Chorus singers. I had the honor of working with Dell for several years in the WLCC. In fact Dell was the board President when I was hired as their Director in 2008. You won't be surprised to know that Dell was one of my soloists for my first concert with WLCC "A Season of Joy & Peace". He also performed in an SATB Quartet in that concert. The WLCC Barbershop Quartet hadn't officially been established when...

The Carlson family and Refinishing Touch are missing you very much Dell. You were such a joy to us and we enjoyed your conversations and the bonding over car projects at the shop together. We are praying for your family and friends as we grieve together.
