TURNER, Mrs. Delores-age 85, of Flint, passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2021 of natural causes. Funeral services will be held 11:30am Thursday, February 4, 2021 with a 11:00am family hour at Sheldon T. Banks Funeral Chapel, 3021 S. Dort Hwy., Flint, MI 48507. Rev. Derrick Pernell officiating. Burial for Mrs. Turner will be at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, MI.
Delores was born in Tamo, Arkansas to Wadie Lee Battle and Vandoil Crawford though she resided in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. At the age of 14 Delores moved to Flint, MI in 1950, where she attended Northern High School graduating in 1954. On March 22, 1962 Delores married El William Turner. She joined the House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church in January 1974, under founder the late Reverend Charlie Thrower. Delores was loyal and devoted member of House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church where she earned several certificates for her labor of love while serving as a member of the Mass Choir Pastoral Care Committee, Deaconess and Progressive Women’s Ministry for 47 years. Delores worked at Hutchinson’s Drug Store, Linen n' Things and Burlington Coat Factory, from which she retired in 1997. She loved and lived life to the fullest, enjoying; football, roller skating, playing cards and traveling.

Allen, Latoya J. Turner and Ta'Shell Jackson all of Flint and Latasha D. Turner of Chattanooga, Tennessee; 2 great-grandchildren, Zamir Turner of Chattanooga, Tennessee and Noah E. Davis of Flint, MI; 8 nieces, Anthlean (Willie) McIntosh, Sheila (Raymond) Jordan, LaFaytia Hairston, Vangeline Hairston all of Flint, Geraldine (Jeff) Bell of Jackson, Mississippi, Sharon (Willie) Patrick of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Tonia (Rick) Abrams of Englewood, Ohio and Rotasha (Robert) Ratcliff of Menifee, California; 3 nephews, Steven (Jamie) Hairston of Clayton, Ohio; Vance (Dee) Hairston of Memphis, Tennessee and Victor Hairston of Tulsa, Oklahoma and a host of great & great-great nieces and nephews; cousins, Terrie (Michael) Bush, Terrence (Carissa) Bush, Ruby L. Delores was preceded in death by: husband, El William Turner; 2 sons, Kenneth Duane Crawford and Forest Kevin Turner; parents, Wadie Lee Battle-Carney and Vandoil Crawford; brother, Ulysses Price and sister, Cecilia “Skippy” Yvonne Hairston.
