Deloris Thompson

Deloris Marie Thompson, affectionately known to everyone as "Dee," was born on Aug. 16, 1936, in the county of King William. She was called to eternal rest on Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2005, at Mary Washington Hospital.

Deloris was an active member of Mount Zion Baptist Church of Fredericksburg, serving in several organizations.

She was married to Master Sgt. Frank Thompson, who preceded her in death, and to this union was born five children. Son John F. also preceded her in death.

She leaves to cherish her memory and continue her legacy: mother, Marion E. Smith; three daughters, Natasha L. Thompson, Barbara Jackson and Delores Martin; four sons, Frank A. "Gogie" Thompson, Sgt. 1st Class Raye Thompson, Larry D. Thompson and Frank C. Thompson; three brothers, Elliott Smith Jr., Kenneth Smith and Gary Smith; two sisters, Geraldine Webster and Beverly Smith; two daughters-in-law, Lynette Thompson and Rochelle Thompson; two sons-in-law, Curtis Martin and Mervin Jackson; one sister-in-law, Deloris McKinney; 11 grandchildren, Sgt. 1st Class James Delmar, 1st Sgt. Corey Delmar, Capt. Curtis Ray Martin, Cassandra Martin, Jordan, Markus, Ennis, Dorian, Jalynn, Jamal and Janae Thompson; four great- grandchildren; four aunts, Henrietta Powell, Rosa Brown, Lucy Lewis and Myrtle Johnson; one uncle, Gwaltney Roberts; devoted nephew, Kerwin Smith and niece Tracy Truitt; faithful cousins, Estelle Brown, Portia Washington and Evelyn Berry; loyal friends, Elenora Brown and Essie Williams; and loving sister in Christ, Della Holmes. Her father, Elliott S. Smith Sr., sister Jacqueline Smith, and brothers Wendell Smith and Edmund Smith preceded her in death.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22, at Shiloh Baptist Church (New Site), Fredericksburg. Viewing will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 21, at A.L. Bennett Funeral Home, Fredericksburg and 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22, at the church. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, in Arlington National Cemetery.
