Cannon, Delphine M. (née Bruckwick ) Entered into the fullness of eternal life on March 30, 2016. Delphine lived her 89 years in style with a smile and celebrated her 90th birthday last Saturday when she realized she might be unable to attend the planned party she eagerly anticipated. Delphine was born in Shorewood and attended St. Robert, Holy Angels, Clark College and graduated from Marquette University. She started a career in advertising at a time when few women worked outside the home, but gave up that career to marry attorney John E. Cannon and raise seven rambunctious children. Delphine made a point of attending important events in her grandchildren's lives; and since those grandkids were scattered from the East to West to South Coasts, she did a lot of traveling. She loved art, theater, books, people, manners and mothering; and was respectful and tolerant of those who did not share her own strong opinions. Delphine's love of art and design led to her business, Table Setter Antiques, and to her volunteer service to Villa Terrace, first as a docent and then later as a board member. All who knew her marveled at her independence and ability to surmount obstacles, particularly during the last four years as her vision failed and she continued to enjoy an active social life. Delphine was predeceased by her parents Valerie and Frank Bruckwick, her brothers Dick and Jim and her beloved husband John. She is survived by her loving sister Radiann Tyson (Fred M.); her dear sisters-in-law Carol Cannon (David J. Cannon) Olive Cannon (Robert Cannon) and Eleanor Cavanaugh; children Monica (Bill Rowan), Christopher (Anne Libbin), Patrick (Eileen), Andrew, David, Peter (Jaclyn) and Clare (Larry Fox); grandchildren Arlo (Ashley), Evan (Camila), Elena (Aaron), Abby, Becky (Aaron), Derek, Tyler, Megan, Jack, Aidan and Anna; great grandchildren Olivia, Phineas, Cannon, Serena and Aviva; nephews, nieces, and numerous other relatives; and all she touched in her journey. May we honor her memory. Visitation will take place on Saturday, April 2, 2016, from 9:30 AM to 11:15 AM, at St. Robert's Catholic Church, corner of E. Capitol and N. Farwell. Remembrances of Delphine will be shared at 11:15 AM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 AM. Interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery, Milwaukee. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Delphine's name to St. Robert's Parish and Friends of Villa Terrace (FOVT), are greatly appreciated.

My condolences on the passing of your dear mother, and grandmother, Delphine.
As the priest chaplain at Columbia St. Mary's hospital for 12 years, 1998-2000, I got to know her through her coming to Mass, in the chapels, alone or with a number of good friends. She was a remarkably faithful Catholic Christian, who always had a smile and a good word.
May she rest in peace, and, may you cherish those many wonderful memories.
Peace,
Fr. Eugene Pcoernich

Delphine was one of those people we feel so grateful to have met in life. I knew Delphine from my work with the Sunday morning Villa Terrace Cafe from its inception through to 2009 and as a co-member of the Board of the Friends of VT. Delphine had a sharp mine and the ability to express opinions in an honest, kind and humorous way. I never meet the Cannon offspring but I had an eye into that home from Delphine's little stories and observations. We live in Spain much of the time now and last...

I cannot say enough about your mother. She was present in our lives for over fifty years; first, as a friend to my mother Anne McGee Shaughnessy, then, to my stepmother Genevieve Hayes Shaughnessy. Please carry on her traditions of warmth and compassion, and know that we all valued the friendship and love she shared. My best, Mary Jo Shaughnessy Murphy

Best wishes and Good Vibes to Chris and the entire Cannon family on the loss of a truly great woman. Delphine was a wise, smart, sophisticated person who commanded respect not by power or force but by decency and acumen. She raised a wonderful family and leaves and indelible mark on her community and on the people who were lucky enough to know her personally. I know all of us will miss her bright presence.

Condolences to the Cannon Family on the loss of your wonderful mother. I can remember many fond memories walking back and fourth to school and stopping at the Cannon house,to meet up with Peter and a smiling Mrs Cannon always there to greet you and remind you that we were already late for school. Sorry we were unable to attend, we are down in Florida. My Father, sends his condolences and says Saturday mass at ST Roberts, just wont be the same. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
