Delphine M. Ketchem (nee Stewart), age 87, a lifelong resident of Hobart passed away on April 10, 2024. She was born on June 19, 1936, in Gary Indiana to the late George Stewart and Patricia (nee Esse) Stewart. 


She was married to the late Curtiss Ketchem for 56 years and raised two beautiful children together. Delphine and Curtiss were the owners and operators of Toolshed Rental. She also worked at the Hobart Botanical Gardens, Gary Methodist Hospital, and Mack Trucks in Gary where she met her husband. Delphine was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and volunteered at Porter Regional Hospital. She enjoyed camping, sitting on her patio, boating on Pine Lake in LaPorte, and going to Friday night Brickie football games. Delphine would also go to the Lake Front Festival every Thursday to see the bands. Delphine and her husband would winter in Florida every year. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister. 


She is survived by her loving daughter; Pam Caldwell; her grandchildren, Kristina (Ryan) Caldwell-Jarmula, Alicia (Kevin) Briskey, Montana (Jacob) Johns, and Gage Ketchem; her great grandchildren, Talen Ettel, Charlie Briskey, Neil Jarmula, and Maeve Johns; her brother, Edward Stewart; her daughter-in-law, Donna Ketchem; and her sister-in-law, Libby Brant. 


She is preceded by her loving husband, Curtiss Ketchem; her son, Rory Ketchem; her parents, Patricia and George Stewart; her brother, Wayne Stewart; her sister, Patricia Smith; and her sister-in-law, Paula Stewart.

A funeral service for Delphine will be held Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at 12:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart, IN 46342. Visitation will take place Tuesday, April 16, 2024, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home in Hobart. Burial to follow at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso. A wonderful, dearly loved Aunt. She will be missed. I always felt supported and loved by her (and my other aunts and uncles) from afar.

Aunt Delphine you will be Sadly missed. I'll miss the 2 hour talks in between seeing each other. Definitely will miss the childhood memories of Christmas get together at your house in hobart. And the time we almost lost tge landscape guy over the edge. To many memories to even put into words. God Bless and now you can be with uncl Curt and Moose. Love ❤ you.
