Demetria "Demi" Bannister

I heard Demetria's cousin on All Things Considered remembering her singing. I am so sorry for your loss. I am a teacher and I know students must be missing Demi. My deepest sympathy to Demi's family.

I didn't know you. I watch your singing video quite often. My 93 year old mom asks to watch it too. What a spirit and voice you had. I'm so sorry you and your mom, as well as many others, were not protected. I'm sure you are brightening heaven but it's still all so sad.

You have touched many lives in so many ways. Rest now, young lady.

To the family, friends and students that were taught by Miss Banister, I want to offer my deepest condolences to everyone who had the privilege of knowing and being associated to such an enthusiastic and happy teacher who truly would light up a classroom. I saw the piece on CNN about Demetria and was brought to tears by her contribution to education and love for family. Demetria's Uncle did an excellent job in a short time of telling us who she was and just her photo says a lot about her soul. I hope this isn't out of place since I don't know your family but as a parent i can see how she will be missed. Bless you all.
