Demetris White

Demetris White, 53, of Goochland County, Virginia, passed away at VCU/MCV Hospital in Richmond, Virginia, shortly after 3 p.m. on Monday, November 22, 2010, with his family at his side. He had suffered severe injuries after a motor vehicle accident on Friday, November 19, 2010.

Demetris was the fourth youngest of fourteen children born to the late Jesse Clyde White and the late Georgia Ellen Washington White. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; five brothers, Randolph White, Clarence White, Ronald Holland, Lander Holland, and Alex Reid White; and one sister, Carolyn J. Childs.

Demetris was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Lavern White; his son, Demetris Avian White; his daughter, Jessica Leanne White; his grandson, Kewane White; his granddaughter, Lyric White; six brothers, Harry "Butch" Holland Jr., Jeff Holland, John Wayne White, George Wesley White and his wife, Marilyn, and Garry White; eight sisters, Claudette Holland, Joyce Johnson and her husband, Chancelor, Connie Price and her husband, George, Lucille Leabough and her husband, Michael, Charlotte Gordon and her husband, Troy, Diane Reddick and her husband, James, the Reverend Arnette White and Lisa White-Murrill and her husband, Anthony.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, November 27, 2010, at Divine Baptist Church, Route 605, Shannon Hill with Pastor Paul Pace officiating. Interment will be at the Washington family cemetery, Route 208, Louisa, Virginia.

Repast will be at the home of Melvin and Sharone Jones off of Route 208, Louisa, following the interment.
