T.E. Cooke-Overton Funeral Home - Suffolk Obituary

Demetrius "Tada" Monay Reid, 37, entered into eternal rest and peace on September 19, 2024, at 1:52 p.m. She was born on March 20, 1987, in Nansemond County (Suffolk, VA) to Joanne Calvie and the late Donald Scott.

Demetrius attended Lakeland High School and Paul D. Camp Community College. She was employed as a Finance Manager at Heavenly Agency Health Care Services, LLC.

A devoted member of the Upper Room Holiness Church in Suffolk, VA, Tada deeply loved her children, Demetrius and Osirus, her devoted friend, TeLarryo Barnes, her family, and her dog, MaMa. She had a passion for cooking, with her favorite dishes being mac and cheese and cornbread. She also enjoyed doing hair and cherished driving her grandfather on errands. Tada found joy in tending to her plants and garden. Known for her diva-like personality, she had a heart full of love for God and her community, always willing to lend a helping hand.

Demetrius’s legacy is one of kindness, generosity, and love. She had an infectious smile and a heart of gold, always ready to lend a helping hand or offer words of wisdom. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Demetrius leaves behind many cherished memories for her loved ones. She is survived by her mother, Joanne Calvie; father, Dwayne Calvie; sons, Demetrus Jeff Barnes and Osirus O’Shea Barnes; her grandfather, George Lee Reid Sr.; sisters, Thasha Reid, Shavon Wilson, and Dominique Bailey, all of Suffolk, VA; and her devoted friend, TeLarryo Barnes of Suffolk, VA. She is also survived by two aunts, Lenora Reid and Iris Reid; five uncles, George L. Reid (Cheryl), Broderick Reid, Alvis Reid, Darnell Reid (Sherry), and Fletcher Reid (Tonia), all of Suffolk, VA; a host of loving cousins; her devoted godbrothers, Calvin Reid and Haywood D. Reid; her godson, Camarion Darden; and her goddaughters, Capri Darden and Keondrya Gatling. A special cousin, Virginia Mizell, along with many dear friends, will also deeply miss her.

Rest in peace, Demetrius "Tada." Your spirit, love, and wisdom will forever remain in our hearts.
