Not sure what to say?

Well it's almost a year, I hope time is helping you heal and move ahead. I know after the loss of my Maurizio, it is taking me a while too to get back on my feet. I hope this finds all of you well. Try to have Happy upcoming Holidays ahead. Fill them with those near and dear.

Dear Bettina, Greg, Lisa, and Gina,

I tried writing before when I first got the info that Denis had died. I felt so bad. I've thought about him alot, with his birthday just passing..etc. I too just lost my Maurizio, I know how heavy your hearts must be, mine aches for you. I only hope and pray Denis didn't suffer...and in time your pain will pass. No need for me to tell you how much he meant to me. I'm sure you already know. May God watch over all of you and help you through this...

I want to express my heartfelt sympathy to Greg and Lisa. They won't remember me, but I stayed with their family for a while, way back in 1968. They were so young and so happy. I know that Gus was first and foremost a Great Dad. And I'll always remember the respect and humor with which he treated me. I will miss him.

Bettina and family, We are so sorry we didn't get the news in time to come down. We all live in Michigan now. We loved Denis and had great times together when we were neighbors in Elmhurst. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

I was deeply saddened to hear of Denis' passing. Without doubt, Denis was one of the 2-3 people at the Chicago Tribune who had the most impact on my career. Along with Anne Keegan and James O. Jackson, Denis selected me to be one of a small cadre of "Column One" writers in the early 1970s. It was a huge break. More than that, however, Denis made all of us who worked for him better. He was the consumate "writer's" editor--a man who respected your creativity while subtley reigning you in when...

Keeping you all in my prayers, may god bless and keep you, always.

Dearest Betina and Family,
We are so very saddened to hear of your great loss. Please know that our prayers are with you and the family during this difficult time. We regret not finding out until today, as we are babysitting for grandchildren overnight tonight.
We are with you in spirit and will keep in contact at a later date.
We thought the world of Denis and you have our deepest sympathy.
Love you
Debbie and Bob

You a

Bettina,

All of your friends at The Cambridge have been saddened to hear of Denis' passing.

It was a daily joy to encounter Denis in the elevator, on the grounds or at the local coffee shop. He will be missed.

We fondly remember his quick wit, wry sense of humor and a smile that was always warm, while somehow inquisitive. His intelligence enriched us all.

We hope that it comforts you to know that Denis is in a better place. A place where he...

Roseanne,

I know this man meant the world to you. I'm truly sorry for your loss.

your friend,
Debbie
