I only worked with Denis for a short time, but was profoundly saddened to hear of his death. He made a great impression on me, and on many he crossed path with, I imagine.

Denis was my writing teacher at Ryerson. We was wonderful. I teach high school students and tell them how he would test to see if someone wanted feedback or just praise. One of many valuable lessons.

Dear, dear Kim. I gasped out loud this morning when I read of your husband's death in the Globe....Its been so long since we've been in touch that I didn't even know you had married. The obit, with the story of your wonderful love story, was heartbreaking.....Your life has been too much touched by cancer. I am sending you my deep respect and affection...and I will keep you in my thoughts as you navigate this terrible change in your life. Sincerely, Bunty Anderson, Wpg, MB

What a man. What a voice. What a smile. What a joy to be around. What an inspiration. What a great, gaping loss that he is no longer with us.

I met him once, at my son Jeff's wedding to Leslie. He said some flattering things to me about my writing in a manner that was totally warm and sincere. Jeff kept me up to date from time to time on Denis's career, but his passing was a total shock. I wish I had known him better and longer, which I suppose is one of the most heartfelt things you can say about anyone's passing.

I didn't know him at all. My niece did and spoke of him! I was however, a big fan of the X Company series! Thought it was brilliant! A special man for sure. My deepest condolences xo- Jane

Although I didn't know him well, I worked with Denis on Season One of X Company. Every time I met him he was always a gentleman and called me sir. He also would thank me each time for my contribution to Canada's heritage. I can easily see how he would be Mark's best friend. He will be missed by all.
