I´m just learning of Coach Slattery´s passing - I was sharing stories with my wife and looked him up, and here we are. Coach was such a huge influence on my life, and well beyond throwing a shot put. He was such a kind man and truly led by example, and I am so grateful to have had him as a coach and teacher. He was one of the best, and I will always cherish my memories of him during my time in Guilderland.

Rest in peace Grandpa.

A great guy and coach. 30+ years later I still hold on to great memories of him as my coach. I wish I knew back then we were both V.I. kids we could have traded stories about the nuns...

Mary, I am so sorry to hear of your fathers passing. What a wonderful man he was. I'm so glad I was able to connect with you in college after having him as a coach in high school. I'll be thinking of you and your family during this sad time.

Dear Slattery family, I am so sorry for your loss. Denis came to visit us in Boston in 2001. It was quite a memorable visit because we laughed so hard (football-related and other) as he entertained us with his considerable wit. He certainly lived large. Deepest sympathies, Clare Fleishman
