Denise Boyd Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 4, 2017.
Denise Elena Boyd, 44, of Bristow, VA passed away December 1, 2017, at U VA Hospital, Charlottesville, VA. Denise was born December 4, 1972 to J. Harold A. and Donna Stevens Boyd.
Denise is survived by her son Noah Patrick Jenkins; her father, Harold; her step-mother, Marsha Boyd of Culpeper, VA.; her brother, Ashby Boyd, his wife Sara and their children Alexander and Haiden of Manassas, VA. She was preceded in death by her mother, Donna.
Denise was a 1990 graduate of Culpeper County High School, and a 1994 graduate of Mary Washington College, Fredericksburg, VA. She also received her Master Degree from George Washington University, Washington, D.C.
She spent most of her working career as a design engineer for National Electric Warranty Corp that was taken over by Asurion.
Since her illness developed she was very active in the PSC Partners organization. She would create care packages for other PSCers who became hospitalized. These care packages would include items patients would not remember to take with them to make their stay in the hospital easier. She recently learned how to crochet and began making prayer shawls for family members who had lost a PCSer and for organ donor family members.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, December 15, 2017 beginning at 9:00a.m. in St Stephen's Episcopal Church, Culpeper, VA with Father Ben Shelton officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the P.S.C. Partners, 6900 E. Belleview Ave. Suite 202, Greenwood Village, Colorado 80111 or Donate Life America, 701 East Byrd Street, 16th Floor, Richmond, VA 23219.

Dear Denise

I have not had the chance to spend a lot of time working with you, but I truly enjoyed our discussions.
When you talked about your disease, you mentioned that your goal was to get your son through college. Im so sorry you did not have that chance. You loved your son so much!

I remember you as an intelligent, enthusiastic, positive and giving woman. You were dedicated and generous, always ready to help other. You shared your knowledge and your smiles, bringing joy to people around you.

Im offering my prayers and most heartfelt condolences to your family and loved ones.

We miss you

Denise and I had a special friendship. We have writing to each other for several years through Caring Bridge. Occasionally, we would take our correspondence off line to regular email. Together we journeyed through the highs and lows of chronic illness. We walked through her mom's illness together and her dad's cancer. This feels like a step we must each make alone. It is so hard to let go. I miss checking in with her. I miss Denise. I know it won't always hurt this much. My love and prayers are with Noah and all her family. Yours in God's Service. . . With love, Emmetri

I have known Denise since elementary school at St. Lukes. She was such a special person. Always the first to comfort others and the last to complain about her own struggles. I was so sorry to hear that she had lost her battle with PSC, but I will always be honored to have known to her. Love, peace, and strength to her family.

Denise will forever be in our hearts... She had a smile that would brighten anyone's day, and was the definition of patience, courage and strength. Despite her challenges and bad days - she made it a point to be at all of Noah's events...truly amazing... My prayers go out to the family for comfort and peace during this difficult time...

Denise was such a special soul. My condolences to her family. She touched people beyond measure. She was always so kind and generous with her time. I, personally, had no idea that she was going through so much until these recent months. But even with all she was dealing with physically, she was so upbeat and I came away feeling comforted myself when I would see her at Patriot events. Her focus was always on others and especially Noah. She will be sorely missed.

Denise was such a good friend to me when I first moved back to Culpeper from Spain, and I was so lonely. She came alongside me when we attended a yearbook conference together at UVA and we were fast friends from then on. She had a great laugh, a zest for life, and a heart of gold. My heart hurts for her family and all of us left behind. I'm grateful to have known her and called her friend.

I knew Denise in high school. She was especially close to my sister, Tracy, so we saw each other often. She was an exceptionally kind, friendly and caring person. Over the years I have seen her develop into a strong woman and a proud mother. To Noah and to her whole family, I am deeply sorry for your loss. Denise was truly a special person; and I will miss her.
