We were roommates in college -- with much in common. We both loved to laugh, but I will always remember Denny's contagious laugh. We both loved sophisticated comedy -- such as The Three Stooges and W.C. Fields. We both had idols -- his was The Duke; mine was Jack Benny. Denny was honest and kind -- and he clearly helped make the world a better place in which to live!

I just learned of Dennis's passing. We were roommates at Lincoln Hall at NIU during our graduate year -- right after both of us flunked our draft physicals. Today is the 50th anniversary of that draft lottery. Although I had been out of touch with Dennis for many years, we were very close during our college years -- and a few years thereafter. We had a special bond because we both loved comedy. As such, we performed as the "Carlson - Spangler Comedy Team" during our NIU days -- and even once...

Dear Margi,
We just learned of Dennis's passing...we are so sorry , and send our deepest condolences. Dennis was a big hearted individual, always giving to, and enjoying the many church activities he was involved in.
Our prayers are with you as you grieve. You will one day see him again.

A world without Dennis Carlson? It's a smaller, sadder, emptier world without Dennis lighting it up with his infectious laugh and ruddy cheeks. Knew him well at Empehi and could always count on him spearheading every Class of '67 reunion. To his family, know that the goodness and quality of his heart and soul live on forever, and that he was and always will be remembered with joy and happiness.

Thank you everyone for your kind words and prayers. They give me great strength and courage as I must learn a new reality without Dennis' laughter, kind heart and ever gentle touch. How blessed I have been for the past 37 years to have been his wife.

This is terribly sad news. I was fortunate to see Dennis last October at the multi year reunion, and as always he was the same warm, funny and thoughtful guy he always was. I have more memories of and with him than I can speak of.
I'll miss him always.

Dennis will always be one of my most beloved friends from high school and MPHS choirs with Mr. Hurst. Dennis was the class of 67 bridge between a number of choir friends from both the 66 and 68 classes. Although we were a year apart in choirs we did sing together with Mr. Hurst's invitation by Margaret Hillis to sing Borodin's Polivetzian Dances, Brahms "How lovely is Thy Dwelling Place, and Bach's "All Breathing Life". We were both Tenors and I remember 2 of Dennis's all time favorites...
