Dennis Castle

Dennis Castle, 85, of Wabash, Indiana died Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at 7:45 p.m. at Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton, Florida. He was born December 20, 1923 in Offutt, Kentucky to Marion and Gertrude (Boling) Castle. Dennis married Dortha M. Zinn in Fort Wayne, Indiana on May 29, 1950. He was a graduate of Van Lear High School, in Van Lear, Kentucky. He served 27 years in the U.S. Air Force, retiring as a Master Sergeant. Dennis also retired from Kearney Inc./ Wabash Magnetics in April of 1989. He was a member of Chirst United Methodist Church and a longtime member of the Church of Our Savior United Methodist Church both of Wabash. He enjoyed golfing and playing games. He had a vegetable garden and enjoyed sharing his canned vegetables with others. He is survived by wife, Dortha M. Castle of Wabash; 4 children, Dennis M. Castle of Culver City, California, Joann (Michael) Coburn of Lake Jackson, Texas, Mary (Michael) Kirk of Alvin, Texas, and Ellen (Dennis) Tyner of Indianapolis, Indiana; 1 grandon Jason(Alicia) Rogers, and great grandson Lucius Kaleb Rogers, both of Colorado Springs, Colorado ; a brother, John Castle of Sun City, Arizona; 2 sisters, Gertrude Preston of Paintsville, Kentucky and Alice Waterman of Maine. He was preceded in death by his daughter Rose Blue, who died August 26, 2003 and 2 brothers. Funeral services will be held at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service 1241 Manchester Ave. Wabash, on Monday, March 30, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Phil Lake officiating. Burial will be in Paw Paw Cemetery, rural Miami County, Indiana. Friends may call 12-2 p.m., Monday, March 30 at the funeral home. Preferred memorial is the American Cancer Society.
