Dennis P. Collopy, age 80 years old, a longtime resident of Pennsauken, NJ passed away on Pentecost Sunday May 28,2023 surrounded by his loving family at home after a hard fought battle with cancer.
He was born in Camden, NJ on December 5,1942 to Margaret and Edwin Collopy and grew up in Cramer Hill. Dennis was preceded in death by his cherished son Denis and brother Edwin “Bud” Collopy.
Dennis was the beloved husband of Kathleen (Wells) Collopy and is survived by his daughters Amy Reid (Jeff) and Katie Collopy, daughter-in-law Liz Mattioni and sisters; Peggy Chepurney and Kathy Birmingham and 3 devoted grandchildren; Sydney, Jake and Andrew. Dennis is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss him greatly.
Dennis was a true family man guided by his strong Catholic faith. He gained most enjoyment from spending time with his family whom he loved very deeply. He was their rock, and his family was the center of his world. Dennis was dependable, engaging, devoted and most of all loving.
He was retired, after working 37 years at Smith Edwards Dunlap Printing Company but remained close to his work buddies. He could often be found in the kitchen cooking up one of his famous recipes and he was a die-hard fan of the Philadelphia sports teams, especially the Phillies, no matter the number of wins (or crushing losses). Dennis was forever grateful to God His Creator for having lived such a long and full life.
Relatives and friends are invited to join his family Thursday evening June 1, 2023, from 6:00PM- 8:00PM, in the Alloway Funeral Home 315 E Maple Ave, Merchantville, NJ.
