Dennis W. Hibbard, age 80, of Winchester, Virginia, died Saturday, March 12, 2005 at his home.
Mr. Hibbard was born on August 23, 1924, in Berryville, Virginia, the son of the late Henry and Minnie Eaton Hibbard. He was an auto body technician specializing in fiberglass restoration for B & M Chevrolet and Stutzman Chevrolet, retiring with over 25 years of service. He was the former owner of Rocky Acre Body Shop. He was a member of Hayfield Assembly of God Church, Winchester Moose Lodge #1283, and the American Legion Post 21, Winchester, VA. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Army.
Mr. Hibbard married Betty Jenkins Hibbard on February 20, 1965 in Winchester, VA.
Surviving with his wife, are five sons, Dennis W. Hibbard and Ernest “Ernie” McDonald, III of Winchester, VA, Garland “Butch” McDonald of Gore, VA, Douglas McDonald of Stephens City, VA, and Thomas McDonald of Kernstown, VA; four daughters, Sharon Murphy of Virginia Beach, VA, Brenda Stewart, Barbara Braithwaite, and Karen McDaniel all of Winchester, VA; eleven grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. One brother and two sisters preceded him in death.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Tuesday at Hayfield Assembly of God Church with Pastor Bobby Basham officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery, Hayfield, VA with full military honors by VFW Post 2123 of Winchester, VA.
Pallbearers will be Garland “Butch” McDonald, Dennis Hibbard, Douglas McDonald, Thomas McDonald, Ernest McDonald, and Wayne Braithwaite.
The family will receive friends at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, on Monday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 PM.
