Not sure what to say?

I realize this is rather late in coming. Dennis and I grew up about 3 blocks from each other in Milwaukee's Bay View neighborhood. Two of my paper routes bracketed his boyhood home. However, as he was 2 1/2 years older and went to the neighborhood public school and I went to Catholic parochial school, we didn't meet till many years later through Vietnam Veterans of America. I regret that I didn't get to know a good man better.

I am saddened to hear of his passing. I was a summer intern in 1984 for his office while he was a Palm Beach County Commissioner. As a young black male, I can't begin to express how much he broadened my perspectives about life and what was possible for me. He took the time to listen, and encouraged me to succeed in life. He was a charismatic leader, but more importantly a genuine human being. He made a difference in the life of many people. He will be greatly missed.

I remember Mr Koehler standing on the corner with his sign up to vote for him. I did, and have never regretted it! My sympathies to his family. I know you have lost a good man. A. Phillips.

My sincere and deepest sympathy goes out to the family. Dennis and I went back to 1985 with the beginning of Commissioner Karen Marcus's campaign. Watch over us Dennis! judy hasner

Our deepest sympathy to the Koehler family- Dennis always fought the good fight. Marcy and Ed Fine

Condolences to the Koehler family and may the God of Comfort guide you from His Word, the Bible. Please reflect on Isa. 33:24, what a wonderful hope there is to come.

How fitting that on Memorial Day after the ceremonies and parades, sitting amid my new VVA/AVVA "family" here in New York, I opened the VVA Veteran and saw the notice of Dennis' passing. I met Dennis at my first State Council meeting in Florida, saw him at my last meeting, and all those in between.

Dennis was an inspiration as a tireless advocate for veterans. He had one speed - full throttle. The veterans of Florida and the country have lost a huge asset. I was honored to know...

My deepest sympathy to the Koehler family. This county has suffered a huge loss with Dennis passing. I followed the articles in the paper as Dennis fought this illness and am so sorry that this was one fight he could not win.
