It's been a long time, and I miss you guys terribly. I still have the old Panasonic bicycle that Dennis gave me not long before he passed. I'm thankful for the good memories.

MORRISONVILLE -- Dennis J. Luther, 54, of Akey Road, died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2007, following an accident while climbing Poke-O-Moonshine.
He was born in Johnstown, Pa., on May 13, 1953, the son of Jay E. and Ruth F. (Searle) Luther.
Dennis married Deborah McCusker on July 17, 1982, at their home, which they built together in West Chazy. Dennis's father was the Methodist Minister who conducted the service.
He worked for Harris Graphics and later at Prim Hall Enterprises, as Sr. Design Engineer for over 28 years.
Dennis was a member of the Adirondack Club.
Dennis will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Along with his immediate family, he was also loved and respected by his close knit technical climbing and skiing "family."
He enjoyed rock climbing, mountaineer skiing, kayaking, cycling, motorcycling, wind surfing and driving his 1977 MGB. Dennis was always ready for a challenge whether it be an old climb or new.
Survivors include his wife, Deborah of Morrisonville; one son, Travis Luther of Morrisonville; two brothers and two sisters-in-law, David and Ann Luther of Ashland, Va., and Timothy and Sissy Luther of Barnegat, N.J.; one sister, Janice Luther of Charlottsville, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours and funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Donations in his memory may be made to the family, to be used for a memorial in the Adirondacks in the spring at a time to be announced.
The R.W. Walker Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
This obituary was originally published in the Press Republican.

He is still missed. I will be rock climbing today at Pok-o-moonshine very near the climb where the tragic accident occurred. Will place a flower on the memorial stone there. His adventurism carries on with many of this pals.

I used to climb, hike and ski with Dennis. His kind spirit and sense of humor are certainly missed. Always an adventure with Dennis.

I too worked with Dennis for several years and I have to say I really enjoyed knowing him both in and out of work. We did some skiing and some hiking together and he was always fun to be around. He is missed and surely not forgotten.

I was fortunate enough to work with Dennis at Prim Hall for the past six years. Recently Dennis and I traveled together for a survey of equipment. What a character Dennis was. He always had his design plans thought out and was never easy to change his mind on a subject such as equipment design.
He was telling me that he had just purchaased some property and had great plans to use it for all his outdoor activities. I'll never foget how he was so excited telling me about this.

Having worked with Dennis for many years at Harrris Graphics and Prim Hall, I have great respect for Dennis as a Design Engineer, but more that that, I will never forget how kind he was to visit my wife in the hospital when she was experiencing emotional problems.
Peggy and I extend our deepest condolences to Debbie and Travis.

Dennis was always very much fun to be around. Whether it was hiking, or paddling, skiing, and even at work. He always had that mischievous grin, just waiting below the surface! And oh, how he loved to talk about the outdoors. Whether it was my trips or his, he would just love to talk about fun in the great outdoors, with that big grin of his in full force. And man, could that guy ever ski! Wow, I was amazed at his talent. My best ever ski trip was one that he invited me on and coaxed me...

We wish we knew all the right words to bring you comfort at this sad time. Just imagining the loss of one's child is beyond any family's comprehension. The actuality of it must be, without a doubt, the worst kind of pain. Even though we know Dennis is now happily with our Lord and that one day all our paths will meet there, the finality is still hard to bear.
You know that you both are two of our favorite people, and a genuinely warm and caring couple who has spent a lifetime...
