CARTER FUNERAL HOME- BRYAN CHAPEL Obituary


Retired 1SG Dennis Lee Monaco, 70, passed away suddenly on March 7, 2018. 


Dennis was born in Dubois, PA on January 24, 1948 and lived most of his life in Richmond Hill, GA.


He joined the Army on June 10, 1966 and retired with 22 years of service in October of 1988 from Ft. Stewart, GA. He worked with the Department of Corrections for the State of Georgia as a peace officer from 1988 and retired with 20 years of service in June of 2008.


He is preceded in death by his mother, Ella June Monaco and father, Orante Ranny Monaco.


Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Margaret Emilie Monaco; two daughters, Patricia McNeese (Michael) and Sharon Jean Monaco (Shawn E. Cornell); two sons, James Allen Carnes and Randy Lee Monaco (Dawn); one brother, Larry Monaco (Jan) of Dubois, PA; and one sister, Karen Young (Ed) of Wellington, OH; six grandchildren, Joshua McNeese, Cierra Burke, Shawn W. Cornell, Sierra M. Cornell, Jagger Monaco, and Lennon Monaco; and two great-grandchildren, Ella Burke and Emma Burke; and several nieces and nephews.


Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Monday, March 12, 2018 at Carter Funeral Home Bryan Chapel and a funeral with Full Military Honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 with burial following at 1:00 p.m. in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville, GA.

So very sorry for your loss. At times like this we reflect on the past and remember the happy times. Although Denny and I were not in touch for decades, I remember with fondness my childhood days with "Ding Don". May your memories help comfort you and your family in these stressful hours.
