Dennis O'Connor Obituary

Dennis "Denny" X. O'Connor

Williamston

Denny O'Connor was born May 30, 1941 to Wilbur and Martha (Patrias) O'Connor, and passed away peacefully April 23, 2014 with his loving family holding him. Denny was a very well-known and respected local community general contractor for over 30 years, and was a Farmall tractor and gardening enthusiast. It seems everyone knew Denny, and he knew everyone. A very faithful long time parishioner at St. Mary Catholic Church in Williamston, Denny's strong faith in Jesus Christ was evident though his last breath. His family will miss him terribly; they will forever cherish the memories of his devotion as father and grandfather.

Denny is preceded in death by his parents Wilbur and Martha, sisters Bernadette and Babe, and brothers Bill and Pat. He is survived by his sons Eric O'Connor of Simi Valley, CA., James (Heidi) O'Connor of Holt, and Shawn O'Connor of Lansing, grandchildren Kyle, Bailey, Travis and Nathan, brothers Terry, Junior, Mike, Joe, Tom, John, and sisters Maureen and Annette.

A funeral mass will be held Monday April 28, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Williamston, 157 High St. with Father Peter J. Clark officiating. Visitation will be Sunday April 27, 2014 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes Williamston Chapel, 205 E. Middle St., with rosary prayed at 7:30 pm.

In Denny's memory, donations can be made to Talbert Family Foundation for Cancer, 25003 Jim Bridger Rd., Hidden Hills, CA 91302, or at www.talbertfamilyfoundation.org.

The family is being served by Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes Williamston Chapel.

I just recently came across Denny's obituary and was deeply saddened to learn of his passing. I remember his vitality, enthusiasm and how incredibly hard working he was. Denny was also very caring, thoughtful and kind. I was amazed to see a photo I had taken of him years ago at the harbor in Leland included in his memorial. I am touched that he kept it all these years. It has brought back a flood of memories. My sincere condolences to his family on the loss of Denny.

Denny was always nice to us as I would help mainain his flower gardens by his home. He generously would include my husband and me at some summer picnics. He was very proud as he spoke of his family, business, estate on Williamston Road, and the Volvo shipped from California. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time.
