FRANKFORT — Dennis Allan Priddle, 65, of Frankfort, died May 29, 2009, at Munson Medical Center.

He was born in Highland Park on Jan. 2, 1944, the son of late Harry and Helen Priddle. Denny married Sue Smith on June 2, 1967.

Denny "The Water Guy" will be remembered by many for his quick wit and passion for a great political debate.

Denny served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He reached the rank of E-5 Sergeant and received an honorable discharge. After the service he worked at Production Industries as a tool and die apprentice. From there he went on to work for Luedtke Engineering Co. for 20 years. He then became a member of the Frankfort DPW and attended classes to become the manager of the city water systems.

Denny was a lifetime member of the NRA and a longtime member of the Benzie Sportsman's Club, where he served as President for two years. He was also a certified instructor for CCW classes. He took classes to become a first responder and did this for a couple of years.

One of the real enjoyments in his life was Monday night cards. Denny also greatly enjoyed spending time with his family, watching his grandchildren play sports, traveling, discussing politics, and he was an avid gun and knife collector.

Denny will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Sue; son, Brian (Wendy) Priddle; daughter, Penny (Mark) McBride; grandchildren, Brad and Steve Priddle, Mark Jr. and Kaitlyn McBride; brother, Ray of Summerville, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Arlene Smith; father-in-law, Dallas Smith; brother, Albert "Larry"; and sister, Lucille.

There will be a casual dress gathering to honor and remember Denny's life Tuesday, June 2, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Jowett Family Funeral Home, 7223 South St., Benzonia. A military graveside service under the auspices of American Legion Post No. 221 will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, at Gilmore Twp. Cemetery.

Those desiring may make contributions to the Priddle family.

Arrangements are by Jowett Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Frankfort & Benzonia.

My heart breaks for Dennis' family. I am very sorry for your loss. Brian was a friend all through school and checked most of my English homework in our senior year. I remember his dad on the sidelines for our football games and our freshman basketball games. It warms my heart to know he was always there to cheer his son on.

Penny and family,
I am very sorry to hear of your loss. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

Brain, my thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family.

My deepest sympathy,

My deepest sympathy to all of you. Though I didn't know Denny on a personal level, I enjoyed visiting with him on his many trips to Glen's. All of us in the store will miss his smile and sense of humor. He was a wonderful person. My heart goes out to you.

Sue, Brian and Penny Jo:I was so deeply saddened by the loss of your loved one. Denny and I went back a long time and began working together in 1968. He will aways be remembered as a good guy willing to help anyone. I always enjoyed our chats and will miss him. Greg Lamerson
