Denis Francis Ruddy, 55, of West Main Street, Norton, died on Wednesday, September 8, 2004 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital, Attleboro following a long illness. He was the former husband of Sandra A. (Bizeur) Direda of North Port, Florida.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts on September 4, 1949, he was a son of the late John C. Ruddy, Sr. and Virginia (Horgan) Ruddy. He was raised and educated in Newton where he was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School. He later attended the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. In Newton, he was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church.

Prior to his retirement many years ago due to illness, he had been employed as a computer systems analyst for the Honeywell Corporation in Burlington. He moved to Norton in 1984 from Townsend where he had resided from 1978 – 1984. Mr. Ruddy was an enthusiastic NASCAR fan.

In addition to his former wife, he leaves a daughter: Lisa Marie Ruddy of Merrimack, New Hampshire; a sister: Virginia M. Kendall of Norton; a brother: John C. Ruddy, Jr. of Falmouth; five nieces and a nephew. He was the brother of the late Frederick Ruddy who died in 1954 and Marcia Ann Ruddy who died in 1990.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend funeral services on Saturday, September 11, 2004 at 8:45 AM from the “Commonwealth Chapel” of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro followed by a Mass of Christian Burial on at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Church, 208 South Main Street – Route 152, Attleboro. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Boston. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 10, 2004 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM in the “Commonwealth Chapel” of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Make-A-Wish Foundation, 295 Devonshire Street – 4th Floor, Boston, MA 02110. Children’s room available during visitation and funeral service. Those in need of a ride to visitation may call the funeral home at (508) 695-0200 for free transportation.
