I was shocked and saddened to just learn of the loss of Dennis today. He was a true friend from long ago. It was an honor to play with him and against him and to just know him. We have all lost something in his passing but gained so much in knowing him.Personally, and on behalf of all the old Black Horse Rugby guys please accept our sincerest sympathy. Dennis still makes me smile when I think of some of the times we had.

On behalf of the March of Dimes Foundation, I want to offer our deepest sympathy to the family of Dennis Shade. He was a devoted friend and volunteer to our organization for over 16 years, helping with our annual Duck Regatta. Because of his efforts, so many families and babies were helped. We'll miss his ready smile and warm heart and will think of him fondly every time we look at one of our little rubber duckies.

What a shock... What a loss.
I've known Dennis for 20 years, he introduced himself to me after a Harrisburg/Old Gaelic Game, he had played Rugby with my Brother Frank at WVU, my brother had died in car accident shortly after graduation from WVU, Denny told me stories about my brother that I never heard, stories that helped me remember my brother, anyway Denny was always reaching out to others, breaking down barriers, finding common ground, the world needs more like him, he will be missed.

Dennis and I have been friends since the early nineties and have remained in regular contact by e-mail ever since. I received an e-mail from dennis on the Friday before his passing and it is a hard pill to swallow when we seemed close buddies even though we were many miles apart. When Dennis...

I was saddened to hear of Dennis's passing. As a member of the lancaster club I always enjoyed meeting Dennis on the sideline during matches and at the social afterward. Great rugby men like him are few and far between. My sympathy to his friends, family and temmates
