Dennis Shanelec

Shocked to hear Dennis passing away today. He was a compassionate and deeply caring person. He was instrumental in helping with bring Tibetan Buddhist teachers to America and had a deep understanding of the Buddha’s teachings in all the three level or vehicles. We Tibetans will be forever grateful to him. Deepest condolence to his wife Suzanne and all their children.

I am shocked and so sad Dr Dennis Shanelec is gone from this world. He was an exceptionally innovative and caring dentist and wise and compassionate human being. My heart goes out to Suzanne and his children and grand children and to all of his patients as well who he cared for with skill and tenderness . I miss him.

I grieve at the passing of Dr. Shanelec. My most capable periodontist for many years but, more than that, something of a renaissance man. He always engaged me in conversation with genuine curiosity, whether it was about what we were reading or our travel experiences. I shall miss him greatly.

I was so saddened to hear of the passing of such a vibrant man...always inquisitive and willing to share his knowledge. I also always marveled at how highly Dr. Shanalec's staff spoke of him. I felt like I was in such competent hands. Suzanne, my heartfelt condolences to you and your family.

I can hardly believe I am writing this tribute. To quote Emerson, "It is not length of life but depth of life" and Dr. Dennis Shanelec certainly had immeasurable depth to his professional career. He is recognized by the world-wide dental community for defining the field of microscope assisted dentistry. His superlative skills and dedication to dental excellence, motivated countless colleagues like myself to raise the bar on precision. I was so fortunate to have been a student and a friend...
