Surrounded by his loving family, Dennis J. Sullivan, peacefully passed away on September 25 after a brief illness.
Born in Buffalo, NY, on October 7, 1932, he proudly fought in Korea with the 1st Marine Division, was honorably discharged at the rank of sergeant and he still considered himself a Marine 60 years later. Sully graduated from Notre Dame in 1960 with a degree in Physics. He worked in both electronic and aeronautical engineering companies before going into sales and marketing. Anyone who knew him knew that Sully was an avid Notre Dame football fan. Until recently, Sully was employed as a crime analyst for the Marin County Sheriff. After this employment ended, he worked part-time as a volunteer performing many of the same duties.
Sully married his high school sweetheart Joan August 6, 1955 in Buffalo, NY and soon moved to South Bend, Indiana to attend the University of Notre Dame. Sully and Joan moved to Novato, CA in 1969 where they made a home for their six children and established themselves as proud members of this community. As a member of Our Lady of Loretto parish, Mr. Sullivan served as both a liturgical and extraordinary minister of Holy Communion for the church. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus in the Fourth Degree, the Novato Druid Social Club, and the Marines Memorial Club.
Dennis Sullivan was preceded in death by his son Michael and brother James. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Joan; children Dennis J. Sullivan, Joseph P. Sullivan (Patricia), Kevin J. Sullivan (Denise), Mary Sullivan Hake (Gino), Kathleen Sullivan; grandchildren Tina, Dennis, Elizabeth and Sheridan; brothers and sisters: Mary Sullivan, Helen Stollsteimer (Robert), Dolores Sullivan, Irene Sullivan-Estrade (Moses), George Sullivan (Elaine) and Laura Kubik.
A Vigil Service will be Monday, Sept. 30 at 6PM at Our Lady or Loretto Catholic Church 1806 Novato Blvd., Novato, CA. Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, Oct. 1st at 11AM at the church followed by interment at Valley Memorial Park in Novato. Online condolences available at adobecreekfuneralhome.com

I remember the Sullivan family as a close family . I remember Mr Sullivan was a business man coming home from work in a suit and tie. I was Michael's girlfriend back then and spent some time with them . I think about them often and hope they are all well . I am sad to hear about Mr. Sullivan . I still think of Michael all these years later , he is in my heart forever and so are all of the Sullivan's. My email is attached I would love to hear from you all, or if anyone knows how I can contact...
