Derek Argel

I first met Derek while working as a security contractor on the Ambassador's Protective detail in Afghanistan in 2005. Derek was a lieutenant at the time and was attached to our detail to handle the air assets that were assigned to us while we accompanied the ambassador from one end to the other of that country. I just learned of Derek's passing through a Cabrillo High School class reunion email. The news has devastated me. We were in a lot of classes together and were good friends in high school.
