i was so saddened when i saw derek had passed. i used to work with his mom and have many fond memories of her stories of him as a little boy. i remember the last time i saw him was the day he got his drivers license when my oldest got her license.i give my heartfelt sympathies to tracey and scott and family. if is anything like his mom he would give the shirt off his back to help his fellow man. he will be so greatly missed.

Derek was such a wonderul young man. He brought smiles and laughter to so many children. Always had a huge smile. He will truly be missed. All children are miracles from God, and he has now taken Derek Home, for He needs him there now, looking down upon family and friends.

We held you in our arms 22 years ago. You had that smile on then and you made me so proud. Years past and sports came and the smile was there also and you made me very proud also. 2008 Came and you walked across that big stage all smiles and thrilled as were we. A week ago God came for you both you and him smiling largly but if you could have looked in your rearview mirror you would have seen your buddy,friend,your father proud but tearing from ear to ear.
