Derek Bodford

Derek was a great friend of mine in high school and we would discuss(argue) about guitarists and bands and who was the best. We went to several concerts together back then. We reconnected online several years ago but I didn't do a good job of staying in touch over the last year or so. I will miss my friend Derek.

In Home Ec class at West Forsyth SR High School in 1981, Derek and I had such a fun time learning how to sew. Derek was SO proud of the bathrobe he and I think Joe Marshall learned to make. I so admired them embracing their feminine side to recognize how useful sewing could be. Then, there was the cooking classes. Such fun!
All in all, Derek was always such a fun, laid back kinda guy who was so inclusive and welcoming to everyone who crossed his path.

After my heart mends from the loss of a dear friend I will always have the fond memories of first meeting through the roofing industry to sharing lunches, breakfasts, a good beer and many great conversations about the best "hole in the wall" eateries across our home state of NC. A kind soul that loved to laugh, had no patience for office politics, loved his half sweet, half unsweetened tea but most of all was so proud of and loved his family.
